The Crime Prevention Unit is composed of 1 Crime Prevention Sergeant, 2 Crime Prevention Officers, 2 Community Liaison Officers, 4 Neighborhood Police Officers, 2 Crime Prevention Specialists, 1 Asian Liaison, 1 Volunteer Coordinator with 75 Volunteers and 1 Secretarial Specialist.

The goal of the Crime Prevention Unit is to form lasting partnerships with citizens and businesses within the City of Richardson in an effort to prevent crime. By informing the citizens of crimes in their neighborhoods and providing them with the knowledge of how to combat crime, each of us wins. The Police Department needs citizens’ help in order to effectively combat crime. Through the Neighborhood Crime Watch Program citizens not only help the police, but help themselves and their neighbors. National Night Out against crime is the opportunity for citizens and police to show criminals they will no longer tolerate crime in their neighborhoods. Crime Watch Patrols are the next step in citizen involvement. Crime Watch Patrols put those valuable extra eyes and ears on the street where criminals are lurking. Your Crime Prevention Unit is dedicated to making Richardson a safer place for you to work and live. Working together, we can take a bite out of crime.
